GES is an experienced U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Department of Energy prime contractor providing Environmental Remediation and Construction, Radiological Investigation and Remediation, Munitions/ Explosives Investigation and Cleanup services.
Groundwater Remediation, Former Atlas ‘D’ Missile Site 2, Offutt AFB, NE | GES completed a 10-year groundwater cleanup for a 62-acre TCE plume with complex hydrogeology using anaerobic bioremediation. GES achieved a milestone for having a remedy in-place two years ahead of schedule.
Avon Park Air Force Range | GES performed various remedial actions at the Avon Park AFR and successfully removed contaminated soil and completed munitions clearance at two sites in active bombing range.
Parcel D-1, Hunters Points Shipyard, San Francisco, California | GES removed 5,400 linear feet of sanitary sewer/storm drain lines, radiologically surveyed 12,000 square feet of trench surface, and radiologically screened 4,800 cubic feet of excavated soil for re-use as backfill material.
DOE-SLAC National Laboratory, California | Removal of equipment from the 1 km long LINAC Accelerator tunnel completed one month ahead of a highly aggressive schedule. Field crews performed a portion of the scope under radiological controls and oversight. Radiological surveys were performed for every component removed from the radiologically-controlled areas.
Picatinny Army Arsenal, New Jersey | GES completed the assessment of 82 inactive buildings for explosives residue, asbestos, and other regulated building materials. 55 buildings required remediation for explosives residues after asbestos abatement. The explosives remediation consisted of flashing equipment and piping and wet demolition of the structures.
Former Fort Ord Military Reservation, Fort Ord, California | GES completed a wide range of MEC clearance activities over a 5-year period at Fort Ord including Munitions and Explosives of Concern (MEC) clearance on over 2,000 acres in the Impact Area including vegetation clearance of 1,700 acres and digital geophysical mapping of 1,800 acres.
Lunga Reservoir, Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia | GES conducted MEC clearance of the Lunga Reservoir recreational area using a mixture of mag/dig and target removal techniques. A total of 10 acres were cleared using mag/dig techniques including disposal pits and areas with too many metallic items for advanced classification. GES removed over 12,000 targets from a previous advanced classification program to complete the clearance efforts.
Former Naval Station Treasure Island, San Francisco, California | As part of a Non-TCRA of a Solid Waste Disposal Area Westside at IR Site 12 at Treasure Island, GES is conducting radiological assessments of contaminated soil and a Final Status Survey along with munitions screening in a highly populated residential area consisting of multiplex housing units, yards, and surrounding greenbelts through the use of visual inspection and hand-held detectors.
South Indian Bend Wash Superfund Site, Scottsdale, Arizona | GES performed groundwater monitoring to assess and report on the MNA remedy for VOCs. GES conducted PFAS sampling and reporting to verify existing contamination. GES also completed a comprehensive review and risk evaluation of existing soil gas and indoor air data in coordination with city and public stakeholders.
